The Administrative Court of Lisbon has ruled that the telephone taps used in the so-called Golden Whistle
corruption process are illegal. The same recordings were used as a basis for the disciplinary action brought by the Liga's Disciplinary Committee against União de Leiria's president João Bartolomeu
(banned for one year and fined 4,000 euros), and FC Porto (points docked) and their president Pinto da Costa (suspension and fine), and Boavista (relegated to the Liga de Honra). Bartolomeu is
reportedly set to sue the Liga's Disciplinary Committee and the Football Federation's Council of Justice for a total of 50 million euros.
