The Portuguese Football Federation has decreed a minute's silence
in all of this weekend's games in memory of former National Team coach Juca (Júlio Cernadas Pereira), who died on Thursday aged 78.
Juca played for Sporting
in the 50s (four titles in a row between 1951 and 54) and coached them in the 60s (titles in 1962 and 66). Later he was a well respected coach of the Selecção
(40 games, only beaten by Scolari and António Oliveira). He played in the first European Cup game: Sporting-Partizan Belgrade (3-3), on 4 September 1955 at the National Stadium
