José António Camacho has resigned as coach of
Benfica after the 2-2 draw at home to the Liga's bottom club União de Leiria. "I believe it's better for the team," he said. "The motivation that I see in the players isn't normal. We've drawn
seven games at home and lost one. I've spoken to the president and told him that maybe the situation wasn't going to get better. Benfica needs more, and that depends on the reaction of the players; I hope they'll
produce more with another coach." Fernando Chalana will sit on the bench as caretaker for the upcoming games.
