José Mourinho has hinted that he's ready to return to work. speaking at the opening of a hotel in which he has invested, he said: "Now that the championships are reaching the end, we'll see if there is some country or club that motivates me enough and will be motivated, and if so, I'll be working in the pre-season ... But it's not part of my career plan to work in Portuguese football, either at clubs or with the National team."

Sporting Braga coach Manuel Machado has resigned after a third straight win that has left the club in ninth position and severely jeopardised the team's chances of qualifying for Europe. Saturday's 1-4 defeat in Madeira against Marítimo was the last straw. António Caldas, who took over briefly when Jorge Costa was sacked earlier in the season, will resume the caretaker function until the end of the season.

The online version of the national weekly newspaper Expresso suggested that FC Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa was in hospital. The club issued a press release to say that the news was "completely false and fabricated."

João Vale e Azevedo, former president of Benfica , is to be tried for the alleged crimes of embezzlement, money laundering and forgery related to the transfer of Scott Minto (to Benfica), Gary Charles (to West Ham), Amaral (to Fiorentina) and Tahar (to Southampton) in the 1999/2000 season. Vale e Azevedo is alleged to have misappropriated four million euros in the deals.

Romanian coach Laszlo Bölöni, who won a title with Sporting , is set to take over from Manuel Machado at Sporting Braga at the end of the season. His contract will initially be for two seasons.
