Local rivals Boavista and FC Porto almost literally fought out a 0-0
draw Sunday in a so-called 'friendly' to present Boavista's squad to their fans. The first twenty minutes or so were uneventful but contained some quite flowing football from both sides. Then on 24 minutes, Boavista's Toñito lunged into a tackle on Derlei (who was subsequently stretchered off) and there were lively scuffles on the pitch among the players. The rest of the game was taken up with foul after foul - 65 in all - and no goals or goalmouth incident to speak of.
Sporting lost the match for third place in the Teresa Herrera tournament in Coruña against Zaragoza. Soriano and Savio got the first half goals that gave the Spanish side the win.
